"Back to the 60s again" After a long layoff, I'm back with some cool photos from the 60s and several tracks my husband went to during the time he was just getting into SCCA racing. Be sure to check out my Guest book because I've had some interesting people drop in.
An Abarth tools down the start/finish banking at Daytona International Speedway at the 1965 SCCA American Road Race of Champions (ARRC). This must be the '65 event because, according to Sports Car Graphic's 1967 Yearbook, there was no Abarth entered that year when my husband was also there. This was a cool, fast, unique car in a class dominated by Bug Eyes. Driver was 1st in his division according to his car's number. Probably East Coast Division since the numbers increased from east to west.
Mack Yates and R. P. Vandawalker fly down the start/finish straight at the 1964 Ponca City Grand Prix. This is a rare photo in that this was the first and only race that Mack's Cobra ran in white. Right after this Mack painted the car his signature Corvette blue.
