Speaking of Ken Frakes and racing, that's him in the MGB up front here at War Bonnet Raceway near Tulsa in 1966 just after it opened for business. Mike Gordon , a photographer and co-worker at the Tulsa World, or my husband took the photo. Ken supplied the photo. This was Ken's first Driver's School.
Don't know who the other drivers are. This is the last turn on to the start/finish straight. Ken said he passed the Shelby GT350 in the turn by out-braking him but was passed by the end of the straight. The MGB coming through the turn behind Ken and the Porsche 356 was race prepared and passed them all a couple of turns later.
By the way, Ken drove his B on the street, as did many racers back then. But 1966 is about the end of that era as the B demonstrated that true "race prepared" was so much faster and meant no more dual purpose vehicles if you wanted to win races.

Classic Car: if you were around at all in the 70s and 80s in the Midwest or Southwest Divisions, you know whose car this is. The fastest TR6 around, owned and driven by none other than Jim Ray. This photo seems to have been taken in early 70s at Dallas International Motor Speedway .
By the way, see who is in background? That's Dave Dooley's Triumph GT6 and his school bus...something we really envied.

G Modified SCCA National Champion of 1965? My husband believes this is the 1965 SCCA G Modified (sports racer) champion at Daytona on the grid after the race . He knows it is after the race and figures he took the picture of the winner. The woman in with him looks pretty darn happy. I may have the name of the winner and will post that in a couple of days. You have the name?
