MoMore photos of 1960s.
- These three TR-4s were photographed
at Green Valley
Raceway by my husband on February
14, 1965, as they were on their cool down lap. That is
Vick
Campbell, Tulsa, in the back.
Vick's car is the nudge that pushed John into racing. This is
the section right behind the pits near the bump that would
often get fast cars flying off all four wheels. This photo was
taken before John bought his TR-4.

- Vick
Campbell adjusts the carb jet
on John's TR-4 at a driver's school at Okmulgee, Oklahoma,
sometime around 1965. John was there as a sponsor since he was
too young to drive. His driver was Sid Adair. Vick
went on to drive one of the first Z-28s in the country in SCCA
"A" sedan. In 1970 he was driving the Trans Am and got involved
in an infamous crash in Canada.

- This clipping is in one of John's
Vietnam scrapbooks. Note the date. John was a "short timer"
with exactly one month left of his tour in Saigon. Must have
been a heck of tour, getting his Competition Press and all. John thinks that might even be
Vick Campbell standing there on the far right
foreground.
