One of Original Overseas Motors Minis is currently being raced with the Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing (CVAR) group in Texas by Trevor Bond of north Texas. The car is very quick and is pictured on the grid at Texas World Speedway where it has been a fixture the past few years, often winning or coming in second in its class which means he has to beat a lot of MG Midgets etc. Overseas Motors, out of Ft. Worth, Texas, ran several Minis over the years due to attrition. Even though some had different paint jobs, including white, most people remember them as the Purple People Eaters.
The Stafford Family Corvette which was campained by mother Stafford and her two sons has been fully restored to it's condition back in the 70s and has just started to be raced by John Rische who is shown here at Road America in one of his first races (note the "X") . We first met the Staffords, who were from the Kansas City area, at the Monterrey 1000 (kilometer) race in Mexico in 1971 and then later in the SCCA Midwest Division during the later 70s. Brought Out of Retirement was this nice Mini owned and driven by James Allen of the Kansas City area who raced the car back in the 80s and then started raising a family. His brother talked him into getting into vintage racing where the car is shown at the fall CVAR even at Hallett near Tulsa. The car is very period correct since he changed little in getting the car ready to run vintage.
