MoMore photos of 1960s and 70s SCCA race drivers.

This is the Ponca City track which is a park. Turn 1 is the left turn in the center of the photograph; turn 2 is the sweeping right turn "out in Lake Ponca"; turn 3 goes onto the back "straight" (there's a "kink" that makes it look like there is a short straight in this photo) and is much tighter than it looks in this photo and is "off camber", and turn 4 is the tight right turn off of the back straight down in the lower left of the photo and goes on to the start /finish straight. The start/finish line is half to nearly 2/3rds the way down the straight. Turns1, 2, 3, and 4 were virtually 90-degrees. This photo is out of the 1975 race program and is probably from several years before that from the looks of the trees and the boat docks. The '75 race was the 14th annual 4th of July event.

James Lee, formerly of Ponca City/Pond Creek/Medford, is shown going down the PC straight several yards from the start/finish with Dave Coman in his black Alfa (left) and an unidentified Porsche 911 behind in 1976. The Turn 4 corner crew can be seen behind the Maxi Blue TR-4. Photo by Jeri Lee.
